Welcome to the Aholo 3DGS Editor Client (hereinafter referred to as Aholo 3DGS Editor). This guide introduces the basic features of Aholo 3DGS Editor and helps you set up and use the client.

What Can Aholo 3DGS Editor Do?

Simply put, Aholo 3DGS Editor is a fully local, offline editor for 3D Gaussian files. It allows you to quickly view and edit your Gaussian files.

The client is easy to install and use. There is no need to open a browser or upload your files. Simply double-click a local file to open it directly in Aholo 3DGS Editor.

How to Set Aholo 3DGS Editor as the Default App?

If your computer has already assigned a default application for a file type, double-clicking the file may not open Aholo 3DGS Editor. In this case, you only need to change the default app once.

Windows

  1. Right-click the file you want to open and select Open with β†’ Choose another app.

  2. Select Aholo 3DGS Editor in the pop-up window, then check Always use this app to open .XXX files.
    Currently supported formats include PLY, SPZ, and SOG.

  3. Click OK to finish the setup.

macOS

The following steps apply to both Apple silicon (M-series) and Intel Macs:

  1. Right-click the file you want to open and select Open With β†’ Other.

  2. In the pop-up window, check Always Open With, then change the Enable option from Recommended Applications to All Applications.

  3. Select Aholo 3DGS Editor from the application list and click Open to finish the setup.

Currently, Aholo 3DGS Editor supports:

We are working on expanding support for additional formats. More formats will be supported in future updates.

2. Does Aholo 3DGS Editor require an internet connection?

No. Core viewing and editing features run completely locally and offline on your device. Network transmission only occurs when you actively choose to sync your files to the cloud.

3. What is the relationship between Aholo 3DGS Editor and Aholo Studio?

Aholo 3DGS Editor is the offline editing component of Aholo Studio, providing local file viewing and editing capabilities.

In addition to basic file viewing and editing, Aholo Studio supports reconstruction, content creation, showcase video generation, and project sharing, providing a more complete workflow from content generation and creation to publishing.
